I’m Doing Everything Right, But still not getting results!

We’re in February now and for those of you who’ve used the New Year or any other time of the year for that matter to make a change or try something new, or to hit a particular goal.
You’re probably and hopefully at the point where it starts to feel more like a routine now, and you’re enjoying the process. ⁣

One thing that arises from this is the excitement of getting results, and..... the disappointment when the results don’t happen.

A lack of results & plateaus can happen for a vast number of reasons, but I wanted to discuss 4 of the most common ones that I see everyday, in order to help you to get passed this roadblock.

So If you've been putting your gym kit on regularly and shunning social events for a gym session, but you still feel like you're body is changing.

And you’ve cut out the fast food, revamped your diet and committed to an exercise program. But the numbers on the scale haven't even budged.

Or you’ve seen a couple pounds drop off initially, but in the last few weeks or even months, nothing has changed.

and NOT seeing any changes, despite the fact that you’ve been sacrificing your favourite foods, and your spare time to get more hours in the gym is so discouraging.
So much so, that you became less motivated, almost wanting to throw in the towel and give up.

What’s the point of putting in hours of hard work if you have nothing to show for it!

But what do we want instead?

We don't mind putting the hard work in, you probably enjoy it regardless, but we want to see the pay off, we want to see that all our hard work is worth it. 

So we can fit into back into a pair of jeans that were getting tight, or your favourite clothes in the wardrobe you refuse to throw away because you promised you'd lose weight and wear them again. To take photos and not delete them or filter them because you're too ashamed to show them on Facebook..

Look, there is far more to exercise and eating healthy than just losing weight and looking good, there's so many other benefits... to our health, our body & our mind, but it's where most of us start.

Because we want to look better than we do right now. 
because when we look better we feel better and when we feel better we are happier and we're more focused on what's truly important to us.

Which is why I wanted to do this video for you, 
so you can get to the pay off, so you can see it's definitely worth it and get back to being happier people. 

1. The most common reason I come across is that people (women in particular) do not eat enough food, which means you’re under nourishing your bodies, then wonder why you have no energy and no results.

So many people are use to skipping breakfast because either you don’t feel like it or you don’t have time. 
It’s been this way for so many years that it’s hard to change that because you can't face eating anything when you wake up.

Or maybe you've had breakfast but skip lunch instead, because you’re busy and you’re distracted by other things, and put your basic need to eat, last. 
Then a massive evening meal because you’ve not eaten all day, followed by reaching for the biscuit tin later that night, along with the guilt that comes with eating half a pack of Hobnobs, and a bar of chocolate, because once you've started you can't stop.

Within your diet you need adequate amounts of protein for muscle repair and recovery, and good quality carbohydrates and fats to support your energy through your workouts. 
Under nourishing yourself can result in changes to your mood, your focus, your metabolism, your hormones and your energy. Eating enough food is definitely something you need to be mindful of. .

2. You’re not progressing your workouts. Put simply, this means doing more each week within your training to allow the body to adapt and progress.

It could be an extra rep, a heavier weight, an extra km, or adding lengths in the pool.
So many people like to stay within their comfort zone, lifting a weight we can already lift, running a distance we can already run, going at a pace that's easy to maintain.

If you’re not actively challenging your body to do more, it is never going to know that it can do more, get stronger, get faster.
Doing the same workouts, with the same exercises, with the same weights over and over allows your body to adapt to it, to get more efficient at it. Whilst this may seem good, it means your body isn't working as hard as it needs to for it to change. If you want to change your body, you need to challenge it.

Listen to your body more, because your mind will give up far before you body does, your mind will tell you to slow down and take it easy, but your body is capable of so much more.

3. The most common reason I come across is that people (women in particular) do not eat enough food, which means you’re under nourishing your bodies, then wonder why you have no energy and no results.

It looks something like this;
doing a few random classes each week, a body pump here, a spin class there, maybe going a few runs, classes that get you sweaty and out of breathe, you feel great when it’s over, but they don't deliver on the results you want.

Your body needs consistency with training, and constantly flip flopping from class to class may ensure you feel great for going (which is fab) but isn’t necessarily conducive to progressing with your goals. Choose one thing, stick with one thing, be consistent and patient with it long enough and you’ll see results.

4. YOU’RE EXERCISING A LOT, BUT IGNORING YOUR DIET
You're making poor food choices and being inconsistent with healthy foods with the assumption, that an extra workout will balance it all out.

Here’s a reality check: it won’t. Lots of people are overweight because they exercise a lot, thinking it will compensate for their excessive eating. 

I urge you to remember that at the end of the day, and you've probably heard this a million times, you CANNOT out train a bad diet. 
Your success comes down to 70% diet and 30% exercise. 
So, if you want to see success in the mirror, it’s time to take a closer look at the choices you’re making in the kitchen.

So those are 4 common reasons that I see so often why people don't get the results they're looking for.
